Guide to Setting Up Nautilus Product Feeds

This guide will help you integrate these feeds with WooCommerce and Shopify, ensuring your store stays up-to-date automatically.

For WooCommerce

WooCommerce allows you to import products using CSV or XML files through plugins. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to handle the different feeds provided by Nautilus.

Step 1: Install a Product Import Plugin

WooCommerce does not have built-in support for XML imports, so you will need a plugin to handle automatic product feed imports. Recommended plugins are:

How to install a plugin:

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New.
  2. Search for your chosen plugin (e.g., “WP All Import”).
  3. Click Install Now, and then Activate the plugin.

Step 2: Configure the Plugin for Full Product Feed (Twice a Week)

  1. For WP All Import (XML Full Product Feed):
  • Go to All Import in the WordPress dashboard.
  • Click New Import and upload your full product feed XML file.
  • Map the XML fields (e.g., product title, SKU, price, stock, description) to WooCommerce product attributes.
  • You can schedule this import to run twice a week using the cron job feature in the plugin to match the frequency of the Nautilus feed updates.
  1. For Product Import Export for WooCommerce (CSV Full Product Feed):
  • Go to Product Import Export under WooCommerce settings.
  • Select Import and upload your full product feed CSV.
  • Map the fields to WooCommerce product fields and run the import.
  • Schedule the import to run twice a week to stay in sync with the Nautilus product catalog.

Step 3: Setting Up Product Update Feed (3 Times Daily)

To keep your product inventory, pricing, and stock status accurate, use the Product Update Feed provided by Nautilus.

  • The Product Update Feed includes only a few essential fields: product title, SKU, EAN, stock quantity, stock status, and RRP (excluding VAT).
  1. Configure the same plugin (WP All Import or Product Import Export) for this feed.
  2. Set up a separate import for the Product Update Feed by mapping only the relevant fields (SKU, stock, and RRP).
  3. Schedule this import to run three times a day, which will match the frequency of the Nautilus feed. Ensure the plugin is set to overwrite only the fields it is updating, leaving product descriptions, images, and other fields unchanged.

Step 4: Importing New Products (Once a Week)

The New Products Feed will include the full details of new items introduced by Nautilus in the last week.

  1. Create a new import profile in your plugin.
  2. Upload the New Products Feed.
  3. Map all product fields (title, SKU, description, price, stock, images, etc.) for new products.
  4. Schedule the import to run once a week to match Nautilus’ feed update.

Step 5: Handling Discontinued Products (Daily)

To manage discontinued products effectively, you can set up an import using the Discontinued Products Feed, which will allow you to automatically update product statuses.

  1. Set up a new import for the Discontinued Products Feed.
  2. Map only the SKU or product identifier to WooCommerce.
  3. Configure your plugin to automatically mark these products as “out of stock” or “discontinued” based on the feed information.
  4. Schedule this import to run daily, which aligns with the frequency of the discontinued product updates.

Step 6: Automating All Feeds

Most import plugins allow you to automate the feed synchronization:

  • Use the plugin’s built-in scheduling tools or set up cron jobs.
  • Ensure all feed URLs provided by Nautilus are correctly linked for automated fetching and importing.

For Shopify you can either do a one of import or a full syncing integrations.

Shopify allows importing products using CSV and XML via apps. Here’s how to handle the different feeds from Nautilus.

Using Shopify’s Native CSV Importer

Here’s how to set up and automate these feeds.

  3. Configure the app to mark these products as “unavailable” or “discontinued” based on your preferences.

To ensure seamless updates, set up your app to automatically pull in updates from the Nautilus feed URLs and schedule imports as needed:

  • Full Product Feed: Twice a week.

  • New Products Feed: Once a week.
  • Discontinued Products Feed: Daily.
